Purpose:

To provide free cooked meals to socially vulnerable groups, such as families or low-income individuals.

Who is eligible? Citizens that are living in and around the Greater Nicosia area.

Criteria for inclusion: The main criterion for inclusion in the programme is the monthly income. The monthly income limit is determined based on the M.G.I.

The effort is to offer cooked food to as many people as possible who need a hot meal such as:

1.            Low-income retirees;

2.            Unemployed Single Parents;

3.            Large families with many children, facing financial difficulties, and;

4.            Families facing financial difficulties.

The aim of the ‘MOIRAZOMAI’ programme, wanting to ensure that a hot meal is provided to as many vulnerable families as possible of our fellow human beings, who need it, is looking for volunteers who will cook at home twice a month or offer € 25 as a monthly contribution.

What volunteers need to know?

1.            They would need to cook on 2 Thursdays per month (minimum 6 servings of food of their choice every other Thursday);

2.            They would be asked to bring transport the cooked food to the offices of the Nicosia Branch (3 Cyprus Red Cross street, Strovolos) every other Thursday between 8:30 -10: 30 am;

3.            Those who wish to help in delivering the food to the beneficiaries, this is done every Thursday from10:30 - 12:30 lunchtime, and;

4.            Those who for some reason would not wish to or be able to cook, they could give a monthly contribution of €25 (in cash) in order to secure the specific portions.

What we offer:

1.            Plastic food containers to place the hot food in portions (free-of-charge);

2.            Pleasant working environment;

3.            Invitation to a reception in recognition of their effort every year, and;

4.            Certificate in recognition of their volunteerism.
